Strengthening the sector’s activities is one of the goals of the Agência Nacional de Transportes Aquaviários (Antaq) (Alexsander Ferraz/AT) A strategic space to promote open, technical, and qualified dialogue — this is the goal of Summit Antaq 2025, organized by the Agência Nacional de Transportes Aquaviários (Antaq) in partnership with Grupo Tribuna. The event will take place this Thursday (October 16) at the Arena BRB Mané Garrincha, in Brasília. The meeting will bring together authorities, experts, and representatives of the sector to discuss the future of Brazil’s port infrastructure. The agenda will focus on strategic topics such as regulation, sustainability, innovation, and port planning. Moderation will be led by Maxwell Rodrigues, port affairs consultant at Grupo Tribuna. “This environment of exchange (between the Agency, government authorities, and the waterway sector) contributes to improving regulation, aligning expectations, strengthening transparency, and fostering the sustainable development of waterway activities in Brazil”, says Frederico Dias, Antaq’s Director-General. Starting at 2:20 PM, he will deliver the lecture “Waterway transport: A vector for competitiveness, logistical integration, and regional development”, alongside Wilson Lima Filho, Director at Antaq. The presentation will address key aspects of Antaq’s role as a strategic agent in strengthening waterway transport. “The presentation will highlight how the Agency has acted on three fundamental fronts: ensuring legal certainty, promoting new business opportunities, and resolving conflicts among various stakeholders. These pillars will be illustrated with concrete examples, emphasizing the importance of technical, stable, and transparent regulation to enhance competitiveness, promote logistical integration, and drive regional development”, explains Dias. Pathways One of the panels at Summit Antaq 2025 will focus on discussing the structural arrangement of Brazil’s port and maritime sector. One of the panelists is the National Secretary for Ports, Alex Sandro de Ávila. “I intend to provide an institutional perspective from the National Secretariat for Ports on how we view the regulatory framework, the balance between efficiency and competition, and the paths to improving concession and lease models, including access channels. I will also discuss how the Secretariat’s actions align with the mandates of Antaq and other entities to shape a more reliable and competitive port infrastructure”, he explains. Also participating in the panel titled “The structural arrangement of the port and maritime sector in Brazil”, which begins at 4:20 PM, will be Frederico Dias (Director-General of Antaq), Flávio Chiarelli (Chief Legal Officer at Antaq), Gabriel Jacques de Moura (Chief Legal Officer at Santos Brasil), Daniel do Valle (Director of Strategy and New Business at Copersucar), Anderson Pomini (President of the Port Authority of Santos - APS), and attorneys Leonardo Coelho and Thiago Miller. “Summit Antaq is a key platform for dialogue among government, regulators, operators, and investors. It is an opportunity to align strategies, discuss challenges, and strengthen the integration between public policies and the regulatory environment. Events like this contribute to providing greater predictability and transparency in the sector, while also encouraging innovation, sustainability, and new investments that enhance the competitiveness of Brazilian ports”, concludes Ávila.
