Discussions on increasing demand at the Port and access improvements to enhance infrastructure will be addressed (Alexsander Ferraz/AT Archive) The first edition of this year's Encontro Porto & Mar event, organized by Grupo Tribuna, takes place today starting at 2:00 p.m. at the Santos City Council (Tenente Mauro Batista de Miranda Plaza, 1, Vila Nova). Topics on the agenda include land access in Santos and Guarujá; a new perimeter road; the Tecon Santos 10 Container Terminal and its relationship with the city of Santos, as well as urban and port mobility. Following speeches by the president of the Council, Adilson Júnior (PP), and federal deputy Paulo Alexandre Barbosa (PSDB), the event will feature, starting at 2:20 p.m., the lecture How to design the ideal infrastructure?, presented by Jennyfer Tsai, Executive Director at Flow Assessoria e Gestão Empresarial. “The event is at the forefront of the logistics and infrastructure sector, particularly due to the high-level debates it promotes between authorities and executives in our field. In this edition, we are addressing two ongoing and critical issues that deserve constant attention”, says Jennyfer. According to her, given the challenges and infrastructure needs through urban, road, port, and mobility projects, the goal is to materialize efforts to ensure they are effectively carried out. “We need to discuss how to manage the effects of such construction in a way that minimally impacts local residents, workers, and tourists, and how we can continue to promote the competitiveness of the Port during this period”, she adds. Panels The first panel, Urban and Port Mobility, will open a discussion on a chronic issue in the city that hosts the largest port in the Southern Hemisphere: the relationship between cargo transportation — served by trucks and trains — and other modes of transport. “The main challenge right now for Santos and the Port is creating an additional entry point to the quay. Currently, the only access is through Alemoa Industrial, and it is already well established that this access is underdimensioned”, says Antônio Carlos Silva Gonçalves, president of CET-Santos, who will take part in the panel. He notes that terminals are increasing their demand and the Port sets new records every year; however, the entrance to the Santos port complex remains unchanged. “There needs to be segregation at the Municipality’s entry point between light vehicles and port vehicles, in addition to parking for individual trucks and proper scheduling at the terminals.” Tecon Starting at 4:45 p.m., the panel Tecon Santos 10 – Relationship with Brazil, the Economy, and the Port will discuss the mega terminal to be leased in Saboó, which will expand container operations at the Port. One of the panelists will be Mário Povia, President of the Instituto Brasileiro de Infraestrutura (IBI). “It is essential to address issues related to urban mobility, new land access routes to the port cluster, and the need to implement another large-scale general cargo terminal,” he notes.
