The new project and the transfer of the Giusfredo Santini Passenger Maritime Terminal to Valongo, in Santos, will be discussed at the public hearing that the Port Authority of Santos (APS) and Concais, which manages the terminal, will hold on June 14th at the administrative headquarters of the Port of Santos, in Macuco. One of the most coveted tourist ventures for the Historic Center, the new facility could be installed next to Valongo Park and has an estimated investment of R\$1.4 billion. "We are studying the transfer of the terminal to Valongo and we will hold the public hearing precisely so that society can collaborate. On this occasion, we will present the project together with Concais," said APS president, Anderson Pomini. Desire The relocation of the passenger terminal to Valongo is an unanimous idea among authorities from the Ministry of Ports and Airports (MPor), the Municipality of Santos, Concais' executives and the Brazilian Association of Maritime Cruises (Clia Brazil), as the location is strategic to boost the tourism and economy of the city. The transfer of the terminal to Valongo depends on the approval by the Port Authority and the Ministry of Ports and Airports of the Technical, Economic and Environmental Feasibility Study (Evtea). This was explained by federal deputy Paulo Alexandre Barbosa (PSDB), who held a meeting on the subject last week with minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho. "After APS's opinion, the process goes to the National Waterway Transportation Agency (Antaq) and then to the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU). Subsequently, the contract is signed", said the parliamentarian. The venture has an estimated investment of R\$ 1.4 billion. The project includes a reception hall for passengers, berths for up to three ships to dock simultaneously, a food court and a parking building. The idea is to instal it next to Valongo Park, whose first phase will be inaugurated in July. Decarbonization The president of APS emphasized that the new passenger terminal will be aligned with the decarbonization agenda. "The new Concais structure will be electrified and, for the future, we are studying the use of the Itatinga Hydroelectric Plant to generate green hydrogen. Initially, to serve cruise ships". As reported by A Tribuna on Tuesday (28), the public call for companies interested in managing and exploiting the Itatinga Hydroelectric Plant, in Bertioga, and, as a counterpart, installing a green hydrogen production park on-site will be released in June.
