The National Land Transportation Agency (ANTT) approved on Tuesday (2) the executive project for the implementation of the permanent way section between kilometer 131 + 260 meters and kilometer 167 + 300 meters, located between the states of Mato Grosso and Goiás, for the Midwest Integration Railway (Fico). The initiative will develop railway infrastructure in the region and enhance the transport of local agricultural and mineral production. Impact The approval marks a significant step forward the progress of Fico, a strategic project that will contribute to logistics and freight transport in Brazil. The approved section is a crucial part of the connection between the states of Mato Grosso and Goiás. The decision has already been published in the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU) and is now in effect. "This decision reflects ANTT's commitment to ensuring efficiency and safety in railway operations, promoting economic and social development through land transport", said Luciano Lourenço, the agency's director. For ports Fico is part of Brazil's logistics development policy to connect grain producing centers in the Midwest to the North-South Railway. With a total length of 888 km, including 383 km from Mara Rosa (GO) to Água Boa (MT) and 505 km from Água Boa to Lucas do Rio Verde (MT), the Midwest Integration Railway will facilitate the transport of soybean and corn production from the north-central region of Mato Grosso, Brazil's largest soybean producing area, towards the ports of São Luís (MA), Paranaguá (PR) and Santos.
