The works include the construction of a higher-capacity drainage channel to improve stormwater runoff (Vanessa Rodrigues/AT) The works being carried out by Autoridade Portuária de Santos (APS) in Alemoa are now expected to be completed in January 2027, according to a revised schedule released by the Port authority. When construction began in November 2025, completion had originally been scheduled for December this year. The project is valued at R\$ 27.8 million and, to date, no formal contractual amendment has been executed to extend either the completion deadline or the contract value. The works are being performed by the Fmeng-Alemoa Consortium, which signed the contract in May last year. According to APS, the first 100 meters of the outbound carriageway from the Port of Santos on Avenida Engenheiro Augusto Barata, known as Retão da Alemoa, have been completed. This section forms part of the package of improvements in the area near Viaduto Paulo Bonavides. The objective is to improve truck traffic flow along the main road serving the industrial facilities and port terminals. Approximately 14,000 freight vehicles travel through the area every day. The project includes the construction of a dedicated truck turning lane and a stormwater drainage channel on Rua Augusto Scaraboto, at the exit from Viaduto da Alemoa. The works, which include pavement replacement, aim to improve traffic flow on the main access road to the Port of Santos (Vanessa Rodrigues/AT) In a statement, APS said that "the drainage channel is currently under construction along the projected outbound roadway, where the works are concentrated, as well as on the section between the avenue (Avenida Augusto Barata) and the estuary." The port authority also clarified that the section of the avenue under its responsibility "begins approximately 180 meters from Viaduto Paulo Bonavides (the boundary between the municipal area and the limits of the Organized Port) and extends for approximately 400 meters (up to the vicinity of the Ultracargo pipe rack — the structure that supports pipelines — beyond the Alemoa roundabout)." APS will also replace the existing cobblestone pavement on Retão da Alemoa with asphalt pavement, while the current roundabout will be replaced by two free-flow U-turns. Complementary works The interventions along this section of the Right Bank Perimeter Road of the Port complement the works being carried out by the Prefeitura de Santos on Rua Augusto Scaraboto, around Viaduto Paulo Bonavides, which represent an investment of R\$ 17.4 million. The works are being carried out by the Fmeng-Alemoa Consortium, contracted by APS for R\$ 27.8 million (Vanessa Rodrigues/AT) City Hall As reported by A Tribuna on Tuesday (7), paving works on the São Paulo-bound carriageway of Rua Augusto Scaraboto, up to the approach to Viaduto Paulo Bonavides, in the Alemoa Industrial District of Santos, will require additional time to be completed. As a result, the City Hall will extend its contract with TMK Engenharia, which was originally set to expire in August, until December. The contract value will remain unchanged at R\$ 17.4 million. In a statement, the Municipal Administration explained that adjustments became necessary to coordinate heavy truck traffic with the municipal works and the construction activities carried out by Autoridade Portuária de Santos (APS). The contract with the contractor was signed in August 2024. According to the Prefeitura, construction began but was suspended on November 24 due to heavy traffic and resumed in March 2025. The contract period had previously been extended by six months (from February to August 2026), together with an increase of R\$ 3.4 million, bringing the total contract value to the current R\$ 17.4 million. In addition to the paving works, the contractor hired by the Prefeitura is continuing the construction of accessible sidewalks beneath Viaduto Paulo Bonavides and in the vicinity of the Stolthaven terminal, where the stormwater drainage network has already been installed.
