Luiz Antonio Mesquita Port Integrator Terminal, Tiplam, records an increase in sugar volume (Reproduction) VLI, a logistics solutions company that operates railways, ports and terminals, reached a historic record in sugar throughput during the 2023/2024 harvest, which began in April of last year and concluded in March of 2024. The 6.1 million tons transported by railways and the 5.1 million tons handled at the Luiz Antonio Mesquita Port Integrator Terminal (Tiplam) in Santos represented volumes 24% and 28% higher, respectively, than those recorded in the 2022/2023 sugar harvest. The record of sugar throughput at Tiplam is reflected in the results of customers using the terminal for commodity exports. Among them, Tereos, which recorded a total volume transported of over 1 million tons of sugar by rail, 7% higher than the previous harvest. "The sugar segment is strategic for VLI. Our multimodal service demonstrates our capacity for co-creating logistics solutions and results with significant benefits for our clients' business chains. Through the orchestration of different modes, integrated planning and our focus on operational excellence, we can satisfactorily serve our sugar and grain-producing clients during periods of record in both segments", says Nicolas Szwako, operations director of the southeast corridor at VLI. In November 2020, VLI and Tereos inaugurated two sugar warehouses, one located at Tiplam, with capacity to store 115,000 tons of raw sugar. The other is located at TIGU - Guará Integrator Terminal (SP) – also operated by VLI.
