The event will take place at the Royal Tulip Hotel theater and will address current topics pointing to the future of port-related issues in the country (Alexsander Ferraz/AT) Energy transition and the planning of Brazilian ports will be the themes of the panels at the Summit Antaq, organized by Grupo Tribuna in partnership with the National Agency for Waterway Transportation (Antaq). The event will be held on the 26th at the Royal Tulip Hotel theater in Brasília. On the occasion, the Antaq Award, annually granted by the regulatory agency, will also be presented. Last year, both events took place in November as well but were held at the Eldorado Brasil Celulose terminal on the Right Bank of the Port of Santos. Until then, the award ceremony had never been held outside the Federal Capital. Antaq’s Director-General, Eduardo Nery, emphasizes the importance of the partnership with Grupo Tribuna for the entire port sector, as it brings information on crucial topics such as the blue economy, modernization, and addressing climate change in the most positive way for the country. “The debate is enriched by all vectors, such as journalism, government, ports, universities, and embassies”, he states. The panels After the official opening by the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, the first panel, ESG: The Port Sector and the Green Hydrogen Chain, will begin at 2:20 PM. Among the panelists will be Antaq directors Wilson Lima Filho and Caio Farias, as well as the National Secretary for Waterways, Dino Batista. The panel will be moderated by Grupo Tribuna’s port affairs consultant, Maxwell Rodrigues, who notes that the world is embracing ESG issues, making the topics within this acronym (environment, social, and governance) critical for the future of Brazilian ports. “In this panel, attendees will gain a clear understanding of what we have accomplished and what we still need to do. ESG issues cannot be viewed as a passing trend; they must be addressed with great seriousness given the realities we already face”, he says. The second panel, Planning and Development for Brazilian Ports, is scheduled for 4 PM. Panelists will include Antaq directors Flávia Takafashi and Alber Vasconcelos, and the National Secretary for Ports, Alex Ávila, among others. “Technology is a disruptive universe, and addressing each topic with the appropriate speed is a challenge for Brazilian ports. The private sector is eager to invest, while the public sector aims to be agile. How will we find the ideal equation?”, Maxwell questions. Eduardo Nery, Antaq's General Director, highlights the high standard of the event (Alexsander Ferraz/AT) The closing lecture will be delivered by Vital do Rêgo Filho, a minister at the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU). Agency recognizes and rewards actions The Antaq Award, held annually since 2016, will focus this year on the theme Climate Emergency in ESG, with the introduction of a new category: Gender and Diversity. The goal is to recognize actions that promote gender equality, reduce inequalities, foster diversity, and include minorities in the workplace and operations of companies regulated by the agency. These initiatives should generate positive impacts, contributing to a more inclusive, fair, and representative environment. In addition to this category, five others will be awarded: Environmental Performance (IDA), Innovative Initiatives in Climate Emergency and ESG, Technical-Scientific Articles, Regulatory Compliance, and User Satisfaction Survey (PSU) for passenger and mixed navigation. The award aims to recognize initiatives that stand out for their contributions to improving the delivery of waterway transportation services to society, fostering research and technical-scientific production, and disseminating best practices in the operation and management of the sector. It is also one of the strategic actions (AE03) of Antaq’s Environmental and Waterway Safety Agenda for 2023/2024.
