The new truck area is part of a series of improvements implemented at the Port of São Sebastião (Government of SP/Disclosure) Companies interested in building a truck yard for a screening process in São Sebastião have until the end of November to submit proposals. Public call 2/2024 was announced on August 28 by Docks Company of São Sebastião (CDSS), with a 90-day deadline. Proposals should be sent to the email licitacoes@portoss.com.br, with the subject Public Call AALP and the company name. The aim of the yard is to streamline cargo flow and improve conditions for truck drivers heading to the city port. The new structure is expected to provide logistical support and avoid congestion of heavy vehicles, which currently wait on access roads around the port area for loading or unloading. It will also benefit truck drivers by providing new facilities with food services, hygiene, and accommodation. “The implementation of the sorting yard will bring many benefits and more comfort to truck drivers, allowing them access to changing rooms, restrooms, and a suitable place to have their meals. Additionally, the initiative will help avoid congestion in the city”, says Ernesto Sampaio, CEO of CDSS. The accreditation process will occur in two stages. In the documentary phase, interested companies will submit proposals. The selected company will have 12 months to implement the project, which includes 150 spots for bitrem trucks. Definitive accreditation will occur with authorization to begin operations upon completion of the project. Improvements The State Government, responsible for CDSS, states that the new truck area is part of a series of improvements being made at the Port of São Sebastião. These include the construction of 11 new warehouses, renovation of the operational control center, paving of storage yards and access roads, closed-circuit TV monitoring, adjustments and compliance with safety and customs requirements, and a new fire-fighting system. The Port of São Sebastião has easy access via the Tamoios Highway, which is connected to the main routes in the state of São Paulo, and is also close to the railway network and the São José dos Campos International Airport. The São Sebastião Contour project on Tamoios is in its final execution phase by the State Government and includes a dedicated access ramp to the port, facilitating access and minimizing interference with urban traffic. The leasing process, which will attract additional investments, is still being designed. In April of this year, the Port joined the Brazilian Alliance for Port Decarbonization, which facilitates experience exchange and actions to accelerate decarbonization in the maritime and port sectors. As the first action under this commitment, the port has begun offering discounts on port tariffs for vessels that demonstrate sustainability and energy efficiency and that prove low greenhouse gas emissions. “These initiatives align with our commitment to promote sustainable development in São Paulo”, emphasizes Natália Resende, Secretary of Environment, Infrastructure, and Logistics for the State.
