President of Santos Port Authority cites Parque Valongo, inaugurated in July of last year, as an example of integration between the Port and the City (Sílvio Luiz/AT) The president of Santos Port Authority (APS), Anderson Pomini, stated that Brazil needs to better value the logistics infrastructure it has already built and advocated for faster and more efficient port development. The statement was made during the closing session of Missão Internacional Porto & Mar 2025, organized by Grupo Tribuna last week in the United States. The mission included visits to cities such as Seattle and San Francisco, as well as technical visits to ports and innovation centers in Silicon Valley. “There is a lot we can learn from this trip, but above all, our port is competitive. Our country is very rich. We have a significant advantage over other countries”, said Pomini. According to him, even centuries-old international ports do not surpass the Port of Santos in terms of operations and logistics. During the event, the executive reaffirmed his commitment to the modernization and expansion of Brazilian port infrastructure. “In the Port of Santos alone, we will invest R\$ 12.5 billion. That’s why this integration with regulatory bodies — such as the National Agency for Waterway Transportation (Antaq), the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) — is so important, especially with all those who represent the port sector. ” Pomini also praised the organization of the international mission on the U.S. West Coast and the role of Grupo Tribuna in promoting discussions about the industry. “I want to congratulate the journalism team at Grupo Tribuna for their impeccable coverage, Roberto Clemente Santini (CEO of TV Tribuna), and Marcos Clemente Santini (CEO of A Tribuna), as well as Maxwell Rodrigues (Grupo Tribuna's port affairs consultant). You help to highlight the organization and proactivity of the sector, which is absolutely vital to the country and has long demanded strategic planning.” He also emphasized the importance of bringing the Port of Santos closer to the surrounding cities — something observed in American ports. “We realized, from the moment we took over APS, that there was no integration between the port and the cities. We initiated a study and developed a proposal for that. I want to commend Congressman Paulo Alexandre Barbosa (PSDB): Parque Valongo, after 40 years (of inactivity in the old warehouses of the Port of Santos), received 300,000 visits in just the last seven or eight months.” For Pomini, the international experience was also an opportunity for learning and exchanging perspectives. “This is a collective effort involving all of us, each playing our part. This transformation is extremely important to further strengthen the sector.” The Missão Internacional Porto & Mar 2025 was organized by Grupo Tribuna with the objective of bringing Brazilian authorities, entrepreneurs, and specialists closer to successful international experiences in port management and logistics innovation.
