Park at the Port of Santos gains new 3,000-capacity event venue and will feature a marina

As part of the third phase of Parque Valongo in Santos, Warehouse 3 (Armazém 3) will be officially inaugurated this Friday (June 26) at 10:00 a.m., following an extensive revitalization project. The intervention resulted from a partnership between Autoridade Portuária de Santos (APS) and the City of Santos and was funded by Brasil Terminal Portuário (BTP), which signed a Termo de Responsabilidade de Implantação de Medidas Mitigadoras e/ou Compensatórias (Trimmc).

The 2,127-square-meter (m²) facility is intended primarily to host live music performances and events with a capacity of up to 3,000 attendees. Restoration work on Warehouse 3 began in August last year. Phase 3 represents an investment of R\$ 17 million and includes urban redevelopment and landscaping of the area surrounding Casa de Pedra.

"Once the park is 100% complete, we will issue a public tender, and a private company will be selected to manage the park. That company will determine the use of each of these warehouses. For now, we will amend the Port's agreement with the City so that it can provide interim management until the park is fully completed", explained Anderson Pomini, President of Autoridade Portuária de Santos (APS).

Just over a month ago, on May 22, Tomé Franca, Minister of Ports and Airports, visited the Warehouse 3 construction site. On that occasion, Hub de Inovação Armazém 7 was officially inaugurated. The innovation hub, located nearby, will be managed by Instituto Presbiteriano Mackenzie, based in São Paulo.

"Parque Valongo represents the effective integration of the Port with the City. In the coming years, it will become the leading tourist destination on the São Paulo coastline, especially after the construction of the marina, which is planned to operate as an integrated part of the park, and following the relocation of the Terminal de Passageiros (Giusfredo Santini, operated by Concais)", commented the President of Autoridade Portuária de Santos (APS).
