The Port Authority of Santos (APS) has extended the lease of Ecoporto Santos, a company of the Ecorodovias Group, for another 180 days at the Port of Santos. This is already the third extension, as a precautionary measure, granted due to the investment plan presented by the company, which is still under review. The contract would have expired last year. Additionally, the area occupied by the terminal is of interest for the installation of the Giusfredo Santini Passenger Maritime Terminal, managed by Concais. According to the ordinance issued by APS, the extension was granted while the investment plan presented by the company is still under review. The terminal operates as a storage yard for containers, general cargo and vehicles, at Engenheiro Antônio Alves Freire Avenue, at the Saboó Dock - Point 4, on the Right Bank of the Port of Santos. Continuation In a released statement, Ecorodovias confirms the investment plan of Ecoporto, stating that the APS ordinance "ensures the continuity of port operations and cargo storage" for another six months, "in order to allow the continuity of the analysis of the claim in question". The group also clarifies that "the maintenance of the lease contract validity does not interfere in the rights and obligations of Ecoporto Santos, which remain unchanged for the exploitation of the port facility, covering an area of 136.4 thousand square meters, located in the Valongo region". Lease The lease contract of Ecoporto Santos was signed on June 12nd, 1998, and would expire on June 11st, 2023. With no new bidding process for the area underway at the time, the National Waterway Transportation Agency (Antaq) authorized APS to enter into a temporary lease contract under the same terms, as an administrative precautionary measure. The extension was signed in June 2023, valid from June 12nd to December 9th, and then renewed with validity until June 5th of this year, and now, until December 2024.
