International Mission in China: activities officially begin in Beijing

Brazilian delegation gathered at the Hilton Beijing Wangfujing, in Beijing, on the evening of yesterday for the first official engagement of the ten-day trip across China (Disclosure)

The Missão Internacional Porto & Mar 2026 officially began this Monday (25) in Beijing, bringing together more than 40 Brazilian business leaders, executives, and public authorities at an opening dinner held at the Hilton Beijing Wangfujing, one of the leading hotels in the Chinese capital. The event marked the beginning of a strategic agenda promoted by Grupo Tribuna , focused on innovation, logistics, infrastructure, and technology applied to the productive and port sectors.

The dinner served as the first opportunity for interaction among the mission participants. In addition to networking and discussions about the sector’s challenges, guests also experienced an immersion into Chinese cuisine, characterized by the diversity of flavors, aromas, and textures of traditional local gastronomy.

This year’s edition of the International Mission takes place at a time when China is consolidating its position as one of the world’s leading references in artificial intelligence, mobility, automation, infrastructure, and operational efficiency — topics that will be at the center of the technical visits scheduled in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Shenzhen — the latter known as China’s Silicon Valley.

More than a business trip, the mission aims to provide practical exposure to models and solutions that help transform production chains and logistics operations on a global scale. The agenda includes visits to companies connected to artificial intelligence, automation, autonomous mobility, and port infrastructure, as well as experiences focused on the concept of smart cities and logistics integration.

Roberto Clemente Santini, CEO of TV Tribuna , highlighted the expectations surrounding the technical agenda and the learning potential that the mission can bring to Brazil. “China is a benchmark for development. Our goal is to see what they are doing and try to bring this knowledge to the Port of Santos and to Brazil as a whole”, he stated.

Santini also emphasized the transformations observed in the Asian country over recent decades. “I had been here 15 years ago, and the difference is enormous. The streets are clean, everything is very well maintained and organized. Even in the short time I have been here, it has already been possible to notice an extremely developed country”, he added.

Firsthand knowledge

Among the authorities attending the dinner was Marcos Bemquerer Costa, Minister of the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU), who emphasized the importance of closely understanding the operational and technological models adopted by the Chinese.

“Ten of the world’s largest ports are located in China. These are extremely modern and efficient structures, with intensive use of technology to move an enormous volume of cargo. That is why it is important for us to be here, to learn about these solutions and bring this knowledge to Brazil”, stated the minister.

According to him, the Missão Internacional Porto & Mar 2026 may also support the work carried out by the Court of Accounts. “When the TCU conducts its audits, it will be important to replicate the knowledge we acquire here throughout Brazil, spreading it across the ports. The idea is to identify areas that can achieve better performance, reducing the so-called Brazil Cost, which is one of the major bottlenecks of our infrastructure.”

According to Bemquerer, the international experience may also contribute to improving management practices and efficiency within Brazil’s public sector. “One of the functions of the Court of Accounts is to encourage more modern and efficient ways of working. To do so, we need to learn about new technologies and new practices that can improve the performance of our infrastructure”, he emphasized.

Technical profile sets participants apart

Maxwell Rodrigues, port affairs consultant for Grupo Tribuna , emphasized the technical nature of the Missão Internacional Porto & Mar 2026 and the relevance of the content prepared for participants.

“Our technical agendas are rich in content and knowledge at every location we will visit, starting in Beijing, moving on to Shanghai, passing through Hong Kong, and concluding in Shenzhen, always learning about the best port practices, fostering networking opportunities, and bringing back to Brazil everything we learn here”, he stated.

Rodrigues highlighted that China has advanced in an “extraordinary way” over the last decade and today competes in technology and innovation with leading companies from around the world. “China opened all its operations to the global market, not only in terms of industrialization, but also through state-of-the-art logistics, using its ports to become the global power it is today.”

Demetrio Amono, Business Director of Grupo Tribuna , stated that the purpose of the International Mission is to bring Brazilian business leaders and authorities closer to solutions that may contribute to the development of the national port sector.

“China has become a benchmark in technology, innovation, and artificial intelligence. Our intention is to provide this experience to participants and understand what can be applied to the development of the Port of Santos and other Brazilian ports. The Chinese have advanced extraordinarily and have become a global power”, he said.

The Missão Internacional Porto & Mar 2026 program continues today with the delegation’s first technical engagements in Chinese territory, including visits to innovation centers and companies connected to artificial intelligence and electric mobility. The itinerary includes the Zhongguancun Science Park, Baidu’s artificial intelligence operations and development center, and the high-tech intelligent superfactory of automaker Baic.
