The Committee for Sustainable Infrastructure in Land Transport, Ports and Airports (Cosust) has been established with the goal of implementing joint sustainability actions across land transportation, traffic management and waterway, port and airport infrastructure. Created by Federal Interministerial Ordinance 3/2024, published in the Official Gazette of the Union, the committee will approve, monitor and ensure the implementation of the sustainability guidelines from the Ministry of Transport (MT) and the Ministry of Ports and Airports (MPor). As a collegiate body with consultative, normative and deliberative functions, Cosust is composed of representatives from both ministries and their affiliated entities. Regular meetings will be held on a quarterly basis. The committee will also discuss licensing and environmental regulation procedures, the execution and management of programs, including compensatory, mitigatory and climate change measures. Additionally, the committee will address inclusion, diversity and public participation in the planning and execution phases of infrastructure projects. The first meeting will be held after the representatives are appointed, later this year.
