The acting position may be held for up to six months (Disclosure) Cristina Castro Lucas de Souza, Superintendent of ESG and Innovation at Agência Nacional de Transportes Aquaviários (Antaq), will assume the position of acting director of the agency. The ordinance appointing Cristina to serve in the role on an interim basis was signed this Wednesday (18) by Director-General Frederico Dias. Once the ordinance is published in the Diário Oficial da União (DOU), she will take over the seat vacated by Flávia Takafashi, whose term of more than four years ended this Wednesday (18). The acting position may be held for up to six months, during which time the President of the Republic must appoint a nominee to the role. Cristina is considered a potential permanent appointee, maintaining the female seat on the Collegiate Board—an objective of the sector and emphasized by Flávia in remarks to A Tribuna. Last month, Antaq’s Superintendent of ESG and Innovation had already assumed the presidency of the Gender and Diversity Committee of the Waterway Sector, also succeeding Flávia Takafashi. Established in 2024, the group brings together women in leadership positions across various segments. The initiative aims to increase gender equity by fostering debate and developing concrete actions intended to promote diversity and inclusion in the port and maritime sector. Cristina Castro will assume the position of acting director of the agency (Fred Cintra/Disclosure) Experience A civil servant at Antaq, Cristina has strong engagement within the sector and is regarded as a technical professional open to dialogue. An ESG specialist (Environmental, Social and Governance), in November last year she launched in Santos the book Descomplicando ESG: como alcançar sustentabilidade estratégica (Tagore Editora), with the aim of making the subject more accessible to the general public. According to her, the book stemmed from a desire to consolidate a 20-year legacy in the field and to demonstrate to managers how to apply these experiences in companies’ day-to-day operations. In Cristina’s view, companies are advancing in ESG practices because they have understood that this represents a significant source of financial resources. Cristina frequently participates in debates promoted by Grupo Tribuna, particularly the COP Portos Sustentáveis project, launched last year and later consolidated into a document submitted to the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), in Belém (PA), by the Governo Federal.
