Company reached 22.3 thousand tons of pulp shipped in 24 hours (Disclosure) Portocel has completed one year of operations this month at Terminal 32 (T32) of the Port of Santos. The operator, responsible for shipping part of the pulp produced by Suzano in Brazil, is considering implementing new technologies at the Santos quay, according to the company’s Strategy, Management and New Business Manager, Valéria Becalli, in a statement to A Tribuna. With 47 years of operations in Aracruz (ES), the Espírito Santo-based company already uses technologies in that state which could enhance productivity and safety at the Santos operations. “We have already implemented in Aracruz technologies such as an automatic spreader (equipment used to lift and move containers or cargo), dynamic draft (sensors that calculate water depth in real time), certified route for autonomous vehicles, and a computer vision project with artificial intelligence. We are evaluating the possibility of bringing some of these solutions to Santos”, says Valéria. During its first year at T32, Portocel — which has 61 employees in the region — reached several milestones. “Highlights include 22.3 thousand tons of pulp shipped in 24 hours and the simultaneous unloading of up to 44 railcars, with peaks of 16 railcars per hour during cargo reception”, says the manager. “The performance achieved in just the first year shows that we are ready to meet the most challenging demands with agility and reliability”, says Valéria. She also notes that the company's work generates benefits for the entire logistics chain, connecting production and international markets with consistent performance.
