Caio Farias has taken over Antaq's leadership on an interim basis (Disclosure/Antaq) Caio Farias assumed the position of interim director-general of the National Waterway Transport Agency (Antaq) this Wednesday (19). In an extraordinary meeting, it was unanimously decided that he would take over the role. Caio Farias will fill the position left by Eduardo Nery, who led the agency for the past five years. According to Antaq, the next permanent director-general will be appointed by the President of the Republic. After the nomination is published in the DOU, the appointee will undergo a confirmation hearing in the Federal Senate, as required by legal procedures. Who is Caio Farias? Caio Farias, who has been part of Antaq since December 2022, is a lawyer with over ten years of experience in various courts across the country. Throughout his career, he has primarily focused on Public Law, specializing in Tax and Administrative Law. He holds a Law degree from Brasília University Center, a postgraduate degree in Tax Law from Brazilian Institute of Tax Studies (Ibet), and a Latin Legum Magister (LL.M.) in Business Law from Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV). He was also a member of the Federal Senate's commission of jurists, responsible for drafting legislative proposals aimed at simplifying national administrative and tax procedures.
