Maxwell Rodrigues and Luis Claudio Montenegro come together in a work that contextualizes the situation in ports (Disclosure) The port and maritime universe gains a new literary record of significant weight. On April 3rd, the auditorium of Grupo Tribuna, in Santos, will host the launch of the book Rudder Amidships – Maximum Speed Ahead, a collection of articles written by the port affairs consultant for Grupo Tribuna, Maxwell Rodrigues, and port consultant Luis Claudio Santana Montenegro, both columnists for A Tribuna. The book pays tribute to the 130-year history of the newspaper and reinforces its prominent role in covering topics related to the port sector, one of the pillars of the national economy. Published by the Maritime Law Academy, the book gathers articles previously published by the authors and also includes special chapters in which Rodrigues and Montenegro write, movingly, about their relationships and the impact of each other's work. The publication has 173 pages and is further distinguished by a foreword written by Mário Povia, CEO of the Brazilian Infrastructure Institute (IBI), and an introduction by Mariana Pescatori, Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Ports and Airports (MPor). Centennial Newspaper The tribute to A Tribuna newspaper is one of the central themes of the work. Founded 130 years ago, the publication is recognized as the first in Brazil to have an exclusive section dedicated to Port & Sea, established over 70 years ago. Since then, it has maintained its position as the leading reference in covering the sector, following the evolution of port activities, logistical transformations, and the impact of public policies on maritime trade. The Port & Sea section serves as the umbrella for other initiatives currently promoted by the Group, such as Summits, Confraria do Porto, and the Porto 360° program, broadcast on TV Tribuna on Saturdays, among others. For Maxwell Rodrigues, being part of A Tribuna’s team of columnists is a huge responsibility and brings a sense of accomplishment in contributing to the development of the sector through the newspaper. This is Rodrigues’ second work, following his previous book O Negócio é Ter um Negócio, written when he was an entrepreneur. "After nearly four years as a columnist, I felt it was the right time to compile a collection of articles together with one of Brazil’s leading port experts. That’s how the idea came about, and with Montenegro, we were able to publish a book that will certainly go down in the history of the Port of Santos. In it, we capture the key moments, challenges, and issues that progress or remain stalled. This publication will help understand how we behave as a sector and how we can immortalize what was once a challenge, which may eventually turn into a solution in the future", he emphasizes. Luis Claudio Santana Montenegro highlights that the work reflects the ongoing contribution of the newspaper to the qualified debate on infrastructure and logistics. "By following the articles, we can trace a historical record of the progress of each situation and the solutions to the problems. We manage to capture a snapshot of the period to see how things have developed. All the articles, both mine and Maxwell’s, maintain coherence in terms of themes. A Tribuna is a powerful engine of the sector because it proposes and enables debates about the port area", he states. Event The launch event will be closed to invited guests and will bring together authorities, experts, and professionals from the port sector, underscoring the historical significance of the work. The choice of Santos as the venue for the book's debut is highly symbolic: as the home of the largest port in the Southern Hemisphere, the city is an epicenter of discussions and innovations in the field. With this launch, Rudder Amidships – Maximum Speed Ahead becomes a reference for those interested in port infrastructure and logistics, highlighting the crucial role of specialized media. The work not only revisits the trajectory of the port sector in Brazil but also reinforces its importance for understanding the challenges and opportunities in the field.
