Job offers occur daily through a digital schedule available on the Ogmo website and app (Matheus Tagé/AT Archive) The unions of Stevedores from Santos, São Vicente, Guarujá, and Cubatão (Sindestiva) and the Port Operators of the State of São Paulo (Sopesp) signed the 2024/2026 collective labor agreement (CCT) on Tuesday (24) afternoon. The new agreement will allow the registration of approximately 500 dock workers who are currently registered with the Port of Santos Labor Management Body (Ogmo Santos), in addition to opening more than 600 registration job vacancies. The last labor agreement was established 10 years ago. The Ports Law (12.815/2013) determines that port operators request casual labor from dock workers registered with Ogmo Santos. Registered workers have priority in job selections, while those registered only receive the remaining jobs. Offers are made daily through a digital schedule available on the Ogmo website and app. The president of Sindestiva, Bruno José dos Santos, estimates that approximately 500 workers are in the registered category, waiting for the opportunity to obtain formal registration. “We don’t have the exact number, as Ogmo will still conduct the survey. It is the dream of every registered worker to be formally registered. There are workers who have been waiting for this for over 30 years. The signed worker only takes the jobs that the registered worker don’t want. For them, only the worst jobs remain”, said Santos. Now, Sopesp and Ogmo will set a deadline, which could be up to 30 days, for calling these workers interested in obtaining registration. Union leaders requested a ten-day timeframe during the meeting. Present at the signing of the CCT, Ogmo Santos Executive Director Evandro Schmidt Pause stated that the request from the union representatives will be evaluated. The union leader also mentioned that the new agreement includes the implementation of a disciplinary norm, health plan, voluntary dismissal program, and attendance policy. “We will return to discuss these issues (with Sopesp) in six months”, Santos said. More positions and reconciliation Regarding the new registrations, Sopesp president Regis Prunzel explained that 300 workers will “enter the system immediately”, while the rest will be placed on a waiting list. “These will be registered as soon as demand for cargo and investments arrives, which should happen in the coming years. ” The president of the Port Authority of Santos (APS), Anderson Pomini, also participated in the meeting and stated that the consensus between operators and casual workers is positive for port activity. “Workers benefit with 600 new direct jobs, 300 of which will be immediate and 300 subsequently, as well as the Port of Santos. ”
